My Family Can’t Deny Me

Kelly over at Kelly’s Korner is hosting a Singles Day for her Show Us Your Life blog carnival. I have one single sibling remaining, so I thought I’d show her off.

Please meet my baby sister, Diana.

Little D

Diana is a 31-year-old physician assistant living in Dallas. She has long brown hair (although I believe she’s sporting highlights now), big brown eyes, and is about 5 feet tall on her tippy toes and 95 pounds sopping wet. We call her Little D. That’s right, Little D in the Big D. She came up with that herself.

Diana Graduating with her Master's Degree

Diana may look like Miss Preppy McPreppy, but she’s actually a fun and quirky bookworm. Don’t get me wrong, she likes to look good and is a bit of a fashionista, but on weekends you are just as likely to find her in Starbucks reading a book as you are in finding her at the mall. If you’re in the mall, look for her in Forever 21. But at Starbucks, look for the girl behind a Beth Moore Bible study or a book with a gnarly medical title.

Do you have a Prince Charming in mind for her? Are you wondering if they’d be a match? Please take the following quiz to find out!

1. Let’s say that Little D and Prince Charming are sitting at an outdoor cafe enjoying a casual lunch when a bird poops on Prince Charming’s head, causing Little D to throw her head back and laugh hysterically. (Totally hypothetical situation. Not based on reality at all. Now please excuse me while I avoid the lightning.) What does Prince Charming do?
a. Curse quietly, pull out a BB gun, and kill the bird dead.
b. Start crying like a little girl and run from the premises.
c. Laugh while he wipes away the excrement with the comment, “It’s not my color.”

2. Little D and Prince Charming are sitting in Starbucks enjoying lattes when a few of their friends walk in. They just came from a stand-up comedy act and decide to unleash their own comedic “talent” by teasing Little D about her height. What does Prince Charming do?
a. Curse quietly, pull out a BB gun, and kill their friends dead.
b. Whip out his smartphone and google “short stature jokes” in order to get in on the fun.
c. Put his arm around Little D while flexing his “guns” and say with a note of finality, “Good things come in small packages.”

3. Little D and Prince Charming are wandering the mall when they run into a couple of Prince Charming’s female acquaintances. One of the women looks down her nose at Little D and starts flirting with Prince Charming. What does Prince Charming say?
a. “Step away from me, Jezebel, or I will kill you dead” while cocking his BB gun.
b. “You’re right, this shirt does look good on me” while glancing at Little D to make sure that she understands that he’s a wanted man.
c. “Have you met Diana? Doesn’t she have the most beautiful eyes?” while looking at Little D adoringly and removing Jezebel’s hand from his arm.

The correct answer to all of the above questions is C (as it is many college exams, but don’t take my word for it).

Did you answer C for every question?

If not, thank you for playing and good-bye. :-)

But if you did, please comment below so that we can talk further!

As I’ve mentioned once or three hundred times, my nephew Christian was born last week. He’s darling and precious and already has such a little personality. Can’t wait to cuddle him again. Holding a newborn has a funny way of making you think about the circle of life, our meaning and purpose, the things that [...]

I was hoping to post a picture of my new little nephew today, but the little guy has yet to make an appearance. I was so hoping to see him soon after he’s born, but I had to get my own little one home and in bed. So I’m sitting here munching on peanut M&M’s [...]
