Something irks me.
It irks me that so many women assume that they can’t be computer savvy.
It irks me that a woman can’t walk into an electronics store and buy a printer or monitor or mouse without being talked down to by a sixteen-year-old kid.
And it irks me that my husband and I can be on the same diet and he lose five pounds while I gain two.
I can’t do anything about that last one, but I’ve decided to do something about the other two.
I plan to write a series of posts explaining computer-related concepts without the buzz words. In “kitchen English,” as my father would say.
(If you’re wondering what gives me the “right” to explain computer stuff, you can read my credentials here.)
I plan to write about topics that will help a wide range of people. Examples of topics I’d like to cover are:
- Is there a difference between a hard drive and memory?
- What’s the difference between 32-bit and 64-bit?
- What’s a byte, anyway?
I’ll try to put up posts on this topic on Tuesdays.
And I’ll try not to irk you in the process.

explanation.

Sounds fun, can’t wait to see what you come up with! I’m a software person myself, so I’d love to learn a thing or two about the hardware side!
